Julie G. nail color

Here I am, back with my second post!

Today I'll be reviewing two colors from Julie G's collection with Jessie's Girl cosmetics.

I've bought a number of colors from this collection and have decided to start my review with two colors that will be sure to catch some attention while you're sitting poolside this summer season - Julie's Fave and Dance In the Dark.

Julie's Fave is a warm, opaque coral tinged with a whisper of pink. The formula is nice - not too thick, not too thin. I was able to achieve full coverage in two coats. I love this color and even though it's slightly warm, this coral shade seems to be one that would flatter a variety of skin tones. It's bright, but has got an almost neutral quality to it in that it's so universally flattering. I can see why Julie's dubbed it her Fave; it's just so happy!

When I first got it home and started playing with it, it dawned on me that it resembled Essie's Cute as a Button...

See a comparison swatch and Dance in the Darkafter the cut!

After inspecting these more closely they are very similar, but not exactly the same.

Julie's Fave is ever-so-slightly more pink, while Cute as a Button is a smidgen darker and more orange. If you don't care about something that minor, the Julie G polish is a cost-effective alternative. I actually like it best!

Dance in the Dark is a deep blue shimmer with gorgeous pinky-purple reflects. It's quite a striking color and one that will work well on a variety of complexions. And GOODNESS GRACIOUS, the shimmer in this! I die. It's so amazing. The pink/purple/blue combination is breathtaking in the sunlight.

The formula on this is a bit thin, but will cover opaque in two coats. For a richer finish, I prefer to use three thin coats and then finish it off with a top-coat. It's a fun color, but is easily vamped up. I actually find deep blue to be a very chic alternative to black.

But jeez! I can't count how many pictures I took trying to capture the color reflected off of this and just when I thought I'd captured it, I'd check my camera roll and see a blurry mess. I tried my best but this is really one you ought to see in person.

It's such a pretty color - do yourself a favor and check it out!

Until next time,
xoxo
J
