Ok, so I just Googled "Is Sally Hansen a real person?" - apparently, I'm not the first to wonder about this! Oddly, there's no definite answer. Yet another unsolved beauty mystery. At least I can feel secure in knowing Mary Kay was REAL.
Anyway, moving on to the first color. This beautiful grass green with a hint of yellow from the Insta-Dri collection is called Just in Lime! - why the exclamation point, I'm not certain.
This color is really rich and I could have probably gotten away with one coat but that just feels weird to me. Like the feeling I get when I think about leaving the house without wearing underwear or something...
The formula on this is fabulous; it dries quickly but I still use a fast-dry topcoat, just for the extra shine. It lasted at least 5 days before any chipping started. Do yourself a favor and wear a base coat because this one stains like cray, as greens often do.
The only thing I don't like is the packaging. The stem the brush bristles are attached to is a friggin' nightmare. I nearly always get too much color on it and then need to scraaaaaape it against the bottle opening to get off the excess. Then, I carefully dip the brushtip back into the bottle to get color on it; otherwise it floods my cuticles like a mug.
See Violet Voltage after the cut!
Violet Voltage is from the X-Treme Wear line. It was calling my name at the store, just begging to come home with me. My $3 in CVS ExtraBucks didn't hurt its chances, I might add. It's so pretty!
It's a warm, red-based purple and reminds me of a less intense version of Illamasqua Jo'mina but with a gorge purple-pink shimmer. It's beautiful in the sunlight.
It dries slightly darker than it appears in the bottle, I've noticed. I've been wearing it for two days now and only see minor tip wear. No chipping yet!
The only con is that it also has the dreaded, flattened square of a brush stem. It's not as large as the stem on the Insta-Dri brushes but it's close. I like the bottle shape of these better than Insta-Dri, which can be a little harder to hold between your fingers while painting your nails. I realize I could just sit at a table but I'm lazy like that.
I'm really glad I purchased both of these colors. The colors are really unique, considering the price point. If you see them, go'head and treat yourself!
Until next time,
xoxo
